i got around to toying with the track editor and while it's a little odd in some ways, it's completely fucking awesome. i did about 5 minutes of actual track editing and a little over 15 minutes worth of test drives and ended up with a track that i'm completely happy with. it's challenging and technical in some areas with high speed corners in others and it has one long straight that lets me get some use out of top gear. i picked the tuscony map and narrowed the road so it was a bit more challenging. if it didn't take 4 minutes to complete a lap, i would use it to tune cars, because it has a little bit of everything. it did, however, shed light on how much i couldn't stand the terminal understeer in my rx-8, and forced me to back of the rebound a notch. now it tucks in perfectly and only understeers when i've gone into a corner way to hot. i'll easily make at least five tracks of varying difficulty in the future.
i futzed with the photo mode as well, and i love it. it's nothing different than gt4, and it's a bit cumbersome to get the angle you want some times, but ultimately it's pretty awesome. i'll probably take a picture of each of my favourite cars and post them over time. being able to export them to the xmb is also fantastic. my current ps3 wallpaper is the image attached.
